Federation Internationale des Experts en Automobiles
Founded in 1954, the Federation Internationale des Experts en Automobiles (FlEA) is an international association of motor vehicle experts. The registered offices are in Paris .
Delegates are drawn from Belgium , France , Germany , Italy , the Netherlands , Switzerland , Poland , Spain , Greece , Yugoslavia , Austria , and the UK . The professional body in each country can send one delegate. Individuals also represent Croatia , Luxembourg and Monaco , where there are no professional institutes in existence.
Objectives
a) To strengthen the bonds which exist between automobile experts.
b) To define the criteria of qualifications in order to determine a minimum level of technical competence in the areas of:
i) Road safety;
ii) Research into the causes and circumstances as well as the reconstruction of traffic accidents;
iii) To determine the origin and the consequences of mechanical damage;
iv) Assessment of vehicles as well as the method of estimating repairs carried out.
c) To provide in all the countries which have a member organisation, the service of a body of experts qualified on the subject of automobiles and specially trained to undertake expert work on an international level.
d) To answer, in the interests of members, questions on technical subjects submitted by international organisations in the interest of members.
e) To establish and keep up to date an international list of automobile experts, and promote the use of an international expert report.
f) To keep its members informed of the scientific and technical progression and distribute the information collected on that subject.
g) To study all measures to help speed up the settlement of lawsuits in terms of expert valuation.
h) Establish and maintain all useful contacts which could be interested in the activities of the FlEA, and notably:
i) International political and economic institutions,
ii) Courts of law,
iii) Insurance companies,
iv) Manufacturers,
v) Repairers,
vi) Associations which look after the interests of users and consumers,
vii) Professional people,
viii) Any persons and any organisations which would be in a position to gain recognition for the profession of an automobile expert.
The goals are not the limit of FlEA activity. It is up to the Board of Directors of the FlEA to undertake any actions and studies which may be deemed useful for the better recognition, organisation, promotion, support and durability of the profession of the automobile expert.
