Solar roof now possible

Reuters reports that Audi is working with China's Hanergy Thin Film Power Group to integrate solar cells into panoramic glass roofs for an upcoming Audi electric vehicle (EV).

Audi aims to feed solar energy into internal electrical systems in order to help increase the range of EVs, with a future goal being to use the solar energy to directly charge the traction battery.

A prototype should be built by the end of the year.
