Daimler buys German ride-sharing service flinc

Reuters reports that Daimler has bought German ride-sharing firm flinc.

The service caters for people who prefer not to own a vehicle, instead, preferring to purchase a door-to-door ride-sharing service.

flinc currently has around 500,000 customers, with the market for ride-sharing services predicted to grow eightfold from its current 33% of the global taxi market.

'With flinc, we are taking on an extremely well-coordinated team that brings valuable experience in the field of short-distance ride-sharing,' said Joerg Lamparter, head of Daimler Mobility Services.

Demand for car-sharing has taken off in a number of major cities including London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Milan and Helsinki, where customers can use free parking and avoid the other costs of car ownership.
