The development and design of the Jaguar XK8

Bristol Region held a very successful meeting on 8 November at the Fox Inn Easter Compton, which was well attended by 30 plus members and guests with some members travelling from as far afield as Cornwall.

Members and guests alike enjoyed an excellent presentation from Mr Peter Leake formerly of Jaguar UK and now of Vantage PL Consulting on the development and design of the Jaguar XK8. The large turnout was testament indeed to the reputation of this excellent speaker who is held in very high regard by Institute members.

The presentation proved to be extremely entertaining and of great interest to all attending, Peter covered the many proposed initial designs for the vehicle and the rationale for the choice of the final design which went on to become a very successful model and a big seller for Jaguar, particularly in the United States. Not surprisingly the XK8 is now an emerging classic vehicle much sought after by Jaguar enthusiasts. Peter fielded numerous questions from the floor about the XK8 and all things Jaguar.

The Chairman extended thanks from the region to Peter for his excellent presentation.
