Jimmy Budd Award 2019

Jimmy Budd Award 2019

Are you or do you know someone who is committed to personal development and considering taking the next step in their IAEA studies? You could be the next recipient of the 2019 Jimmy Budd Award.

The Jimmy Budd award was instigated by the Institute in 2011 in conjunction with the family of Jimmy Budd and is awarded in his memory. The award is a permanent dedication to his involvement and work in encouraging younger members to attain full Institute Member grade by completing the Institute written examination route. The Jimmy Budd Award is a scholarship available to someone working as a vehicle damage assessor who has demonstrated academic ability and enthusiasm to further their career. The recipient of the award will receive a scholarship covering the cost of tuition and examination fees to enable them to achieve full Member grade of the Institute.

What is included within the scholarship? The scholarship will cover the tuition and examinations fees to enable the successful candidate to achieve full Member grade of the institute. This includes the cost of:

Study materials for the following written examinations:

• Section 2 Motor vehicle legislation as related to insurance principles

• Section 3 Principles and practice of vehicle damage assessment

• Section 4 Motor insurance

• Section 1 Basic principles of maths and physics application to accident reconstruction or Section 5 Motor vehicle technology

Examinations fees:

The scholarship will include one exam entry for each written section. Any retakes must be self-funded and where the recipient has failed more than one section, funding for additional exam sessions may be put on hold until all outstanding exams have been passed.

Practical or re-accreditation examination:

The scholarship will include the cost of taking the Institute practical or re-accreditation examination. This support will only be available once all four written exams have been passed and will include a practical or reaccreditation examination as required for the recipient to meet the requirements of the full member grade.

How long is the support provided for?

The scholarship and financial support will be provided for the duration of the enrollment on the written examination route. This is currently five years, the time scale will allow sufficient time from receipt of the scholarship for the recipient to attend four examination sittings and completed the practical exam (if required).
