eBay UK has been working closely with multiple insurers, recyclers and collision repairers over the past 18 months to deploy its newly developed eBay for Business B2B platform designed to identify available Reclaimed Original Equipment (ROE) parts

The system includes prices, savings and environmental benefits. Ordering, delivery and payment are all integrated into the system, making it a one stop shop application for users.

On Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th of July, eBay UK hosted webinars for all phase one participating repairers along with Aviva Insurance.

The sessions were very well attended by an engaged group of repairers. Aviva's Alistair Campbell said, "we are excited to be working closely with eBay and our collision repairers to start using recycled parts sourced through the eBay platform. This pilot will have a number of benefits, including helping our repairers to repair more vehicles, improve repair times and repairer profitability, while helping Aviva better manage repair cost – all of which will benefit Aviva's customers."

The eBay for Business platform integrates with Audatex. "It was critical that we built a system to makes it easier for the repairer. Parts are critical to the timeliness and profitability of every repair. Building a system to help streamline the repair process has been our focus. The feedback to date has been very positive. We know we are not there 100% yet, but that is the purpose of this pilot phase one and we are excited to be working with Aviva and their repairers", said Laura Richards, Senior Category Manager at eBay UK.

Phase one of the ROE parts strategy starts rolling out this week and we expect that all chosen repairers will be online and buying soon. There is certainly a lot of activity around reclaimed parts in the UK at the moment as individual suppliers look to provide solutions to large buyers.

Chris Daglis, Managing Director of Auto PARTnered Solutions, works closely with repairers, insurers and suppliers in different regions and has been engaged as eBay's independent consultant since February 2019. Chris said "eBay takes the opportunity to a new level. Their ability to invest in technology, strategy and very importantly, in the supply chain is a game changer.

"eBay sells a new part through its B2C platform every second and a reclaimed part every 8 seconds. It has over 6 million parts available at any one time. We have worked really hard, and invested heavily on the supply chain, and this will continue for years to come, but we have taken some really big steps forward in a short time. No one supplier can offer the range of product that the eBay platform can, and this is critical to fill rates".
