UPDATE – 31/07/20 – 11PM

Firefighters from several stations, along with a number of specialist appliances, are currently at a car lot on Bentley Moor Lane in Carcroft, Doncaster, after being called just before 10pm.

Over 30 cars are understood to be ablaze and crews are working hard to get the fire under control and extinguished. We expect to be in attendance for most of the night and, whilst it's late, ask that people stay away from the area whilst we do our work.

There are currently no reports of any injuries and it is not yet known how the fire started.

UPDATE – 01/08/2020 – 8AM

This incident has now been scaled down, with only three fire engines now in attendance. Having worked hard throughout the night to get this fire under control, firefighters are now damping down and ensuring all remaining hot spots are out.

At its height there were around 40 firefighters tackling this fire – with the service drawing on the support of neighbouring West and North Yorkshire fire services. A drone, from South Yorkshire Police, was also used to help the firefighting effort.

A fire investigation into the cause of this fire – which is understood to have involved over 200 cars – will begin this morning.

UPDATE – 01/08/2020 – 1PM

This fire is now out, and firefighting operations have stopped. A fire investigation, into how the blaze started, is now underway.

It is thought that around 900 cars have been damaged in the blaze, however there have been no injuries.
