Audatex partners for total loss solution

Audatex has teamed up with Ireland's leading car checking and automotive data solutions company, Cartell, to launch an automated Total Loss Registration solution for the country.

The solution will help Ireland's insurers to comply with the upcoming Road Traffic Act 2016 amendment. Coming into force later this year, the amendment requires vehicle insurers to notify the National Vehicle Driver File, Department of Transport when a vehicle is written off.

Audatex and Cartell will deliver an automated service which notifies of the Category A (scrap only) or Category B (some parts salvageable) inspection, to support insurers with the new amendment shortly coming into force.

The Total Loss Registration solution works using Audatex's AudaEnterpriseGold (AEG) solution, generating a 'Daily Total Loss Report' to Cartell to conduct a check of each vehicle. Once verified, a summary of all Category A and B cases will be delivered automatically to the Department of Transport on the same day, to achieve fast vehicle categorisation in line with the regulation changes. Any vehicles requiring further verification will be sent directly to the insurer to correct records on the Audatex system and re-processed by Cartell accordingly.

Tom Hart, head of client relationships at Audatex, said, 'We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking company that creates solutions to mitigate problems for our customers before they arise. Working closely with Cartell, we have created a sophisticated solution, powered by data from vehicle assessments to fully automate the category identification process. The solution will minimise downtime in the communication of vehicle data from the Engineer to the Department of Transport, ensuring continued compliance for insurers in the market.'

Jeff Aherne, director of Cartell, added, 'Our vehicle database expertise, combined with Audatex's innovative insurance and bodyshop solutions made for a great partnership for this system. We have worked well with Audatex to deliver the solution before the law changes take place later this year. We understand just how important it is for our customers to operate within regulations, and we're dedicated to support them with the tools to remain both compliant and efficient when such changes occur.'
