Presentation by Adam Murray

Immediately following the Region's 2016 AGM at Inchyra Grange Hotel Polmont, Chairman Hugh Doherty called on Adam Murray, currently President of the Institute. Adam with the aid of power point equipment delivered an outstanding talk entitled 'The Future'.

The forthcoming influence of vehicle body construction and styling were highlighted along with global needs and standardisation. Updated power trains, aluminium and composite construction, on board information gathering equipment were all described. Safety features for passengers and pedestrians are of the utmost importance.

Inspecting engineers must be, more than ever, constantly trained and aware of proper collision damage repair procedures and the need to understand current and future developments to ensure correct cost effective re-instatement. Guesswork cannot be tolerated and scientific approach is essential. Accurate salvage category grading is imperative when such occasions arise. Future vehicle technology and the risk for Insurers are clearly linked.

Adam's well researched talk gave a forward looking view of a safer and demanding future within the vehicle manufacturing and crash repair industries.

Peter Ramsay gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the members who appreciated the value of this enlightening presentation.
